8 Best YouTube Fitness Trainers 2023

I’m a huge fan of working out at home, and with YouTube, there’s certainly no shortage of available workouts! But with so much variety to choose from, it can be hard to find the kind of workout you’re looking for. It takes a lot of time to sift through all those channels to find a trainer you like.

Over my many years of working out at home, I’ve spent countless hours going through various fitness channels on YouTube, just trying to find a good workout to do. There’s one thing I know for sure: just because someone creates videos, it doesn’t make them a fitness expert. I am astounded at just how many really bad, and unsafe workouts there are out there! Not to mention the ones that are just plain boring, and/or ineffective.

    Tracy Steen

    Move Daily Fitness

Tracy has 96.4k subscribers, and she’s been on YouTube since 2009. She is one of my very top fitness go-to’s, and I’ve been working out with her for over 5 years. Specializing in strength and cardio workouts, she has so many different types to choose from. I never, ever get bored with her, because of the variety of formats and tempos she uses in each workout.

Tracy is a seasoned fitness instructor, as she has been a certified personal trainer for over 14 years. She has multiple fitness and nutrition certifications, and she also holds a degree in psychology. Before she was a fitness trainer, she worked for many years as a counselor. I think this is what sets her apart from many other trainers because, in addition to being a fitness and nutrition expert, she has a good understanding of what makes people tick emotionally.

    Sydney Cummings Houdyshell

    Royal Change Fitness

On YouTube since 2016, Sydney has really made her mark and is helping 1.42 million subscribers to hit their fitness goals! She was a track and field athlete in college and has been involved in fitness her whole life. As a certified personal trainer and nutrition professional, she also holds multiple other fitness certifications.

She specializes in efficient and doable workouts for women, focusing on strength and endurance. Her positive feedback throughout every workout is enough to keep you going, even when you feel like you can’t do another rep!

She always encourages you to try to do more than you think you are capable of. I’ve been surprised so many times when I’ve gone ahead and tried a heavier weight, and found that I COULD do it! Her signature “pep talks” during the cool-down and stretch of every workout are priceless and great for getting your day started with the right mindset.

    Fitness with PJ

    PJ Wren

At 97.3k subscribers, PJ has been creating fitness workouts on YouTube since 2011. She has been a certified personal trainer for over 30 years, and her specialty is fitness for women over 40. Her workouts are always safe, keeping the older woman’s body in mind. But for PJ, “safe” doesn’t mean boring, and it definitely doesn’t mean easy!

PJ has quite a wry sense of humor, which she brings to every fun and extremely effective workout. I have laughed so many times during a workout with her, even as my muscles are struggling to finish those last few reps!

Be sure to also check out her Over Fifty Fitness app for women, which offers a free 14-day trial. There are over 800 workouts available, and PJ and her team of other fitness and health professionals are always adding new content!

    Larie Midkiff

    Fit by Larie

Larie has been on YouTube since 2013 and has 83k subscribers. She is a former NCAA athlete and certified personal trainer. She also holds other fitness certifications, including pre-and post-natal specialist, and yoga teacher. She is a wife and mom to 2 little girls, and she is also a bodybuilder, competing in NPC bikini competitions.

Her teaching expertise is in strength training, conditioning, TRX, and barre. Her workouts are efficient and effective, utilizing various modalities and styles to build strength, define muscles, and condition the cardiovascular system.

What I really appreciate about Larie is that she keeps it real. She’s not afraid to show you that the workout is just as tough for her as it is for you! When I look up and see her also struggling to push out those reps, it gives me the encouragement to keep going. She makes you feel like you’re exercising with a friend who is also in it with you!

    Heart and Soul Fitness

HASfit is a husband-and-wife team, and Coach Kozak and Claudia have been on YouTube for quite a long time, since 2007. They have 1.91 million loyal subscribers, and a library of well over 1000 workout videos to choose from. They feel that fitness shouldn’t have to cost a lot of money, and they aim to make workouts available to everyone. Coach Kozak has been involved in athletics his entire life, and he’s been training people for decades.

Their workouts are very doable for everyone, at any level of fitness from beginner to advanced. Coach Kozak usually shows the more advanced move, while Claudia demonstrates the modified/beginner option. They have quite a few children, and you will see Claudia pregnant in many of the workouts! They always encourage you to work hard for your fitness, while at the same time tailoring each exercise to your level with regard to weight/intensity.

    Michelle Briehler

I just discovered Michelle’s channel about a month ago, and I am obsessed with her workouts! She’s now become a regular part of my fitness repertoire. She has 81.6k subscribers and has been on YouTube since 2013. Michelle has been a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor for over 20 years. Her focus is on helping women to build a strong and balanced body. There is an amazing variety of workouts on the channel, ranging from strength and cardio to PIYO, and even mini trampoline workouts!

Michelle is so fun to workout with! She has a friendly and engaging style, and I find myself often going beyond what I thought I could do because she is so encouraging. The workouts range from quick (10, 20, or 30 minutes), to more lengthy (45 minutes to 1 hour). I like that her workouts take place in various locations. Sometimes it’s just her in the living room; other times she and the “crew” workout together on the driveway, in the backyard, or at the gym.

There is also an option to join the membership on the channel for $4.99 per month. This unlocks all the members-only videos, and several times a month she does live workouts for members.

    Fitness Blender

Daniel and Kelli are a husband-and-wife team of personal trainers on YouTube since 2010, with a whopping 6.65 million subs! Their channel is wildly popular, and for good reason. It’s hard to beat the amount of variety of workouts available, with everything from cardio and strength training to yoga and stretching.

I first discovered this duo way back years ago, after I first gave up my gym membership. I wanted to workout at home, but I needed workouts that would give me the results I was looking for. I found it in Fitness Blender! Their workouts will challenge you, and you WILL get stronger and fitter. Because Daniel and Kelli are such professionals, you can rest assured that you are in good hands. They always teach good exercise form, in order to avoid injury and get the most out of each exercise.

In the past few years, the channel has become so popular that they decided to bring new members onto the Fitness Blender team. So now there are also lots of new workouts with other trainers besides Daniel and Kelli. All of the team members are just as highly qualified and certified, and they add even more fun and variety to the workouts.

In addition to exercise videos, there is also lots of smart and unbiased nutrition and health information available. They take a no-nonsense approach to proper nourishment, and you won’t find any crazy extreme diets being suggested! If you’re looking for just straight-up good nutrition advice, you will find it at Fitness Blender.

If you’re looking for a more structured fitness plan, and/or more nutrition information and recipes, their website is a goldmine!

    Fitness Type

Marischa has been creating YouTube videos since 2014 and has 155k subs. All of the workouts are low impact, so they are perfect for getting in a great exercise session without the risk of injury, or damage to your joints.

Marischa has lots of workouts for beginners, and also for more intermediate exercisers, as well. For anyone who is just starting out on their fitness journey, her workouts are very doable. You will definitely get your heart rate up, and get sweaty!

Most of her workouts are between 20 to 30 minutes in length. There’s a good variety of HIIT and steady-state cardio workouts to choose from, including kickboxing, and “walking” cardio. There are also many strength workouts available, either using weights or body weight only. Also many toning workouts for specific body areas, such as abs, legs, glutes, and arms.

After I severely injured my lower back at the end of 2020, I was in recovery mode for several months while the bones and tendons healed. When I was ready to start easing back into exercise, Marischa’s workouts were an absolute lifesaver for me! I am so grateful that I found her because, with her workouts, I was able to start exercising again and building my fitness back up.
